Letter From the Editor- Winter 2020

December 10, 2019

Coffee District Media Magazine, Winter Edition 2020 press-release.

The Autumn and early Winter season in New York is truly captivating, and not only because it brings gorgeous scenery and long-awaited harvests or because its energizes us with expectations for the upcoming holidays. It feels special because it seems like a contemplative, highly spiritual, and reflective moment for busy local fellows. In this “Letter from the Editor-Winter 2020”, I’ve reflected on the deeds that brought the most enjoyment in our ‘Coffee District Media’ agency life in 2019. I went over our mission and goals for the upcoming year. My colleagues and I suggested what wholesome life is, and shared our conversations with experts about natural products, organic beauty, food, business and music industries. All these materials will be published in our Winter 2020 edition that is set to go live on December 30th, 2019. So continue reading, follow us, or subscribe to follow our latest news!

Coffee District Media Magazine, Winter Edition 2020

Letter from the Editor in Chief, Lena Yudina

At this time of the year, spotting a meditating business owner, a stay-home mom turned-yoga practitioner, or listening to an entrepreneur playing a self-made flute around Central Park, looks organic and natural. They perfectly blend in with the tapestry of changing leaves, rainy sidewalks, the bright colors of the late-blooming flowers, and smiling faces of well-rested kids. This time of the year has been my favorite for a long time. It brings redemption, the feeling of arrival at some destination where a new year, a new chapter of my life is just about to begin. Even though many consider Winter to be the last season that closes out the year, for me, Fall feels like the end of the cycle that brings up the fruits of my living, new creations, and the latest results. In the Fall, my year-long cycle is completed bringing up sensations from my life, resolved conflicts, and the actualization of hopes. Winter is a time of celebration, where what I have achieved feels like the final triumphal music chord in the year’s majestic symphony.

The Uniqueness of the Season

The uniqueness of this season is something that manifests through nature, our deeds, completed projects, special moments, unforgettable summer kisses, and fulfilled promises. Fall and Winter seasons make me feel secure and confident. These seasons have all the answers; they “suggest” some plans for the future while balancing my previous achievements. I feel that this period of the year is special and wholesome. Whether it is random or intentional, during this season of the year, we tend to sort out things we did in the past and plan ahead, stepping into a new reality, into the new upcoming year. As the words wholesome and wholeness started to circulate through my office, we gathered around the coffee table for an emotional debrief and some editorial planning.

What is a Wholesome Life

What is a wholesome life? Should we learn how to stay away from the distractions of an urban community? Do we have to welcome more nature and more sustainable products into our life? How can we adequately express ourselves at work while dealing with the demands and limitations of the corporate powers? What are the stumbling blocks that prevent our productivity and creative thinking? Does connection with the history and culture of the past matter? What brings beauty and wholeness to our homes, or workspace?

Whether this year has left you feeling happy or disengaged and torn, we’ve collected some compelling stories of restoration, new beginnings, and learning new skills that might reflect on your feelings. In the upcoming Winter 2020 edition of our magazine, we introduce stories that made the season shine, stories that we hope will make you curious, well- informed, and delighted.

Clean Eating and Sustainability

On pages 3-7, we explore the idea that wholeness somehow equates to clean eating, living, and sustainability. You will find a list of organic and plant-based foods, skin-care, and self-care products that can be a great addition to your beauty routine and your home. Read our product reviews, as well as vegetarian and plant-based recipes, and immerse yourself in the conversation about beauty tips for busy travelers, sustainability, wholesome living, wellness, natural products, and ecotourism.

Join Our Coffee Table Book Club – Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Business Innovations in Gig Economy

Business ethics, behavioral science, entrepreneurship, and startup innovations are the topics we continuously discuss with our audience. On page 8, our guest, the MBA from Stanford University, and the book writer Claire Diaz-Ortiz will walk you through the process of self-discovery, finding inner motivation and impulse for creativity. Her tips on how to turn average blog posts into profit will surely make you wonder. In her book “Social Media Success for Every Brand,” she shares some advice and uncovers secrets for aspiring marketers and business owners. Our discussion on specific marketing points and cross-references to my eBook “7 Step Strategy on Profitable Blogging and Effective Marketing” will make you well-prepared for your journey in Digital Media, Digital Writing, and Small Business Development.

Our Interviews

Meet our recent guests on our pages 9-11 and read our Interviews with the renown speaker and business owner Kaihan Krippendorff (“Driving Innovation from Within”), and behaviorist Jeff Kreisler- the author of his book “Dollars and Sense”. In a recent blog post released by the New York Times, Jeff shares his tips on smart money spending during the holiday season. During our interview with Jeff, we discussed some strategies on how to build habits that help entrepreneurs and other professionals combat procrastinations, and start a new year on a positive note. An exciting approach from both authors will urge you to rethink some habits and circumstances, which can block people’s creativity, imagination, and achievements.

Music and Art Matter

Music and Art has a special place in our hearts, so make sure to visit our pages that we dedicate to this theme. On page 12-13, find our interview with Steve Maglio, singer and the board member of the renown Friars Club, in New York City. He will bring you to the era of Frank Sinatra, whose impact on wholeness and the happiness of many generations is hard to ignore. We will guide you through the historic Friars Club – the oldest entertainment club in the city that attracts an impressive amount of visitors, tourists, members, movie stars, musicians, renown filmmakers, talkshow artists, and comedians. Located at 57 East 55th Street, between Park Avenue and Madison Avenue, in a building known as the Monastery, the Friars Club absorbed the aura of the majestic neighborhood with its stylish, yet welcoming boutiques, churches, business skyscrapers, and various 5 star restaurants.

Dimash Kudaibergen, Igor Krutoi and Refik Anadol

Page 14 uncovers the musical talents of the rising star Dimash Qudaibergen. A 25 y.o singer and a fantastic show performer from Kazakhstan, he keeps surprising his audience with the broad range of his voice, and incredible ability to quickly redirect his energy, emphasizing the lyrics and music phraseology in each song. In addition to Dimash’s musical talents, his brilliant tight knot with the Russian composer, producer and an aspiring songwriter Igor Krutoi brought Dimash worldwide popularity and multiple global fans. We will share our news about Dimash from the front rows of the Barclays Center for Performing Arts, in New York City, where Dimash will be performing on December 10/2019.

The page 15-16 will show you some footage from our trip to innovative Digital Art installations of Refik Anadol held at the Arthechouse NYC. The pop-up gallery is still open to the public until it’ll hit the road for their next world tour in 2020.

Our Greetings

Fall and Winter are the culmination of creative natural forces, so we too might need to follow that circle. We can store all our creations, deeds, intentions, and experiences into one unified and wholesome place and start thinking of the future. As summer fades into the autumn, and the autumn leans towards winter, we begin to take leaps into another year of life. Let us judge the upcoming year with a fresh eye, new experiences, and an upgraded spirit. Let the pressure of the past year go away and the forthcoming hard work make effortless. Let us make our priorities and take care of our body, soul, and mind in a healthier way. And let the ever-evolving and endearing process of self-discovery and creativity make us stronger, more powerful, and more prosperous year after year, season after season!
